LENS OPTIONS AVAILABLE
Trevino Eye Clinic & Optical have a variety of lens options to meet all your needs in single vision, bifocal multifocal lenses and progressive with the most advanced technology and plastics.

Plastic lenses are the most commonly-used lens material on the market today. Lighter and more durable than glass, these versatile lenses can be molded and ground into almost any shape, to accommodate nearly any prescription.

Polycarbonate is the lens material of choice for the ultimate safety in eyewear. These sturdy, impact resistant lenses are highly recommended for children's eyewear, safety glasses, and for rimless frames that require drill mounts. Among the high index materials developed for eyeglasses is one material that has a number of very unique properties that also provide many special benefits to eyeglass wearers. It carries the generic name "polycarbonate" but may be called different names by different manufacturers.

  • Impact Resistant - Polycarbonate Surpass AR lenses are 10 times more impact resistant than plastic lenses.
  • Lighter - Polycarbonate Surpass AR lenses are up to 35% lighter and thinner than standard plastic lenses for greater comfort.
  • UV Protection - Polycarbonate Surpass AR lenses shield your eyes from virtually 100% of the sun's harmful UV rays.
  • Scratch Resistant - PolyCarbonate Surpass AR lenses are hard coated for excellent durability and scratch resistance.

Hi-Index lenses Using the highest index of refractioning, 1.67 lenses are up to 60% thinner than normal lenses as well as surpass normal anti-reflective lens coatings. Thinner than 1.67 lenses, the 1.70 high index lenses are practically half the thickness of normal plastic lenses and deliver the clarity of glass. For the absolute thinnest and lightest lenses available, 1.74 high index lenses are 13% thinner than 1.67 lenses, and are the flattest and most cosmetically appealing lenses ever developed.

Hi-Index 1.74 lenses are the thinnest, flattest, and most cosmetically appealing lens ever developed and deserves the best of all technologies including the most advanced anti-reflective (AR) lens treatment.

These lenses are nearly 50% thinner than 1.50 index plastic and 13% thinner than 1.67 index, offering you the ultimate in technology and cosmetics by reducing the "eye-shrinking" effect that many high myopia prescriptions have.

Bifocal Lenses two lenses in one, top part of lens used for distance and the bottom part of the lens used for reading (close-up) distance.

Progressive Lenses (Varilux©) provide continuous uninterrupted focus for distance, reading and everywhere in between. Your eyes make a smooth transition between vision zones, with no "jump" or distracting lines.  Varilux©  lenses are specifically designed for people over 40 who experience presbyopia, a condition in which near vision (needed when reading, sewing or working at the computer) becomes increasingly blurry. Varilux© enables you to see near, far and everything in-between while looking fabulous at the same time.

There are different types of Varilux© lenses

Varilux© Physio©: brings the corrective power of wavefront, similar to the technology used in laser surgery, to progressive lenses.

Varilux® Panamic®: The Varilux Panamic design balances central, peripheral, and binocular vision resulting in clear fields of vision no matter where the wearer looks through the lens. The design provides excellent vision correction and wide vision fields in a thin, lightweight lens.  Varilux® Panamic® is the most appropriate choice for patients who are concerned that prescription will call for thick lenses, for those who require polarized progressive lenses, or are content with their current Varilux® Panamic® lenses and are unwilling to change.

Varilux® Ellipse® and NEW Varilux Ellipse 360™ offer Full-scale vision for small-frame wearers. Varilux® Ellipse® revolutionized short corridor lens design by providing maximum visual space for more natural vision.  Designed specifically for small frames, Varilux® Ellipse® adapts to a small frame wearer’s natural visual behavior.

New Varilux® Ellipse® 360 offers an even greater level of performance. The 360Digital Surfacing™ process optimizes VARILUX lenses to reduce distortion and maximize fields of vision for each unique prescription.  Varilux® Ellipse® and Varilux® Ellipse® 360 offer:

  • Easy eye movement to reach near vision quickly
  • More comfortable progressive vision in a small frame

Anti-reflective coatings have quickly become a "must-have" option for any pair of lenses. By reducing glare, anti-reflective coatings offer less eye strain for computer users, night drivers, and even make the lenses "invisible" for picture-taking.

Photochromic lenses respond to UV rays by automatically changing from nearly crystal-clear to sunglass-dark. These lenses come in several colors and offer a great enhancement to full-time eyeglass wearers who spend a lot of time in varying light conditions.

Polarized lenses are used in sunglasses to reduce glare from reflective surfaces such as the surface of a lake or the hood of a car.
